I wanted to love this movie. It’s on of my favorite book. The writing is nuanced, and pulls you right in. The story itself is complex though the plot is not. Unfortunately, the movie just glides on the surface. So much of the important points are glossed over or never even mentioned. It was actually pretty heartbreaking for me. So much potential. Honestly it isn’t the kind of book that should ever be made into a movie at all. For that reason I put off watching it. Now I wish I had not.
