I would say that the book is a bit of a drag, and for someone religious, it might seem offensive to take a religious figure like Mary as a nonchalant lady wearing Nikes. Nevertheless, as I read the book, I learned/peaked on the faith of Marian devotees, which has always seem a little bit odd to me. Like some, I did not give Mary much attention, turns out the world did a pretty good job on putting Marian sightings out of regular view and this book somehow shed a light on how the Marian devotees grew in number. My faith is still in Jesus alone, and not on the Virgin Mary, but this was an interesting read, and the half part of the book is what really made me give it a 4-star review. It became a bit more personal, rather than just summarizing a research paper. And weirdly enough, just as when I finished the book, I wished there was more to it.
