Halo TV series…..wow. I’m torn. On the one hand, what they got right were the weapons, ships, planets etc and it is cool to see how those work in a tv show. The Elites look cool, as does the fighting, plus it’s cool to see the Covenant taking in native tongue. But WOW, everything else is waaaaaay off!
Like, why do they have a human working for the Covenant?? That NEVER HAPPENS until way later in the timeline. Another thing is the massive timeline screw up! According to the date in the show, the events take place in 2552, close to the start of when Halo was discovered. Yet, in the show Chief and “Silver Team,” (the wrong Spartan team as the correct one is known and incredibly ESTABLISHED AS BLUE TEAM) are off running around doing ridiculous fake tv drama missions instead of anything Halo related or what/where the books and games have them actually at.
Anyone who has given this series a 5 star rating and starts with saying “keep an open mind” doesn’t have a clue as to what they should know about Halo, can’t believe the true and established facts about the universe, and is most likely paid to promote the series. (Keep an open mind is code word for I don’t possess enough brain capacity to know truth). This series fills the show with stupid politics such as black washing the Keys (Captain Jacob and his daughter Miranda), as well as completely missing how the books and games made characters like Halsey and The Chief to be.
Pablo Schreiber as The Chief I don’t have any issues with and think that he is a good choice as Chief. The stupid memory loss (which didn’t exist btw in game and in the books) and early removal of his helmet I do, as well as the UNSC trying to “control” him and his ship. Garbage and not true!!
I hate when writers and directors make something “unique” and “different/with a creative twist.” I understand that there are copyright laws and you as one of these people wanting to make something your own to an extent, but imagine this: being the first one of these people to ACTUALLY FOLLOW a great and established story line that’s been in the making for almost 21 years now and giving the REAL FANS what we’ve been waiting for and would love to support for so long now!!🫢 There’s sooo much to explore within that, such as the battle of Sigma Octanus (real book readers/fans know) or the formation of the Spartans, or The Battle of Reach.
All of this to say, it IS cool to see some of the fight scenes and to actually see the tech and weapons not from a game standpoint, hence why that I believe is worth a 2 star rating.
