It's hard to overlook the stunning visuals, but this is after all a "flight simulator" not a scenery simulator and IMHO it fails in the flight regards.
Long slow downloads, frequent updates which don't to seem to fix the stuff that really matters such as the awkwardness of the controls.
I can't understand why MS decided to rewrite the stuff that worked well.
For now, I'm enjoying my copy of FSX and the aircraft I already own that isn't available in MSFS yet, such as the Majestic Q400 and iFly 737.
