I have never read a more honest book about trauma/ADHD/Psychology, ever. I was glad to see it wasn’t like the textbooks “Everythign you need to know about Psychology” because while it is important to know the fundamentals, this is a deep dive in to real experiences and actual feelings and how to sort through them. Peter Levine describes his trauma is such a realistic and truistic way. One can only find incredibly relatable to their own trauma and past experiences, even though not the same. I’m in the more blissful healing stages of a lot my own personal trauma, moving on in a healthy way, or being able to acknowledge feelings without letting them consume me entirely. One thing that stuck out to me is the “shaking feeling” Peter had when he was in the accident, I never really put the shaking feelings into words and comprehended thoughts before until I read this.
I have learned more about body language, psychology, trauma, depression and ADHD all in one book than I ever have. This book has given me so many tools to use for observation of myself and others and I feel will be of great use in the right context for approaching trauma in the future. This book is an incredible asset for anyone looking to resolve trauma no matter how big or small. Thank you for this book.
