Always good to see Robert Carlyle again, but the story line has so many threads it gets just very defusse and becomes an over-dramatised mush.
Then there are real inconsistencies in the story line:
1. A solar event so dramatic, that it takes out major parts of the world's electrical power systems, somehow leaves the mobile phone network still operational.
2. While the same solar event disrupted an airliner's avionics so badly that it crashed on a motorway and we are told GPS systems no longer Work. But in episode 2, senior civil servant takes a return helicopter flight, at night, between two cities in the UK: Did the pilot follow the railway lines or navigate by the moon?
