What more could you want from a movie? It sees what came before and adds, it's clear eyed and intellectually exciting. It's perfectly beautiful from jacketthreads to cityscapes. It amps up the stakes and adds thrilling performances. One thing I really liked: Unlike the Northman, where all superstition and magic were the foolish thoughts of frightened people, this movie Eggers makes science into the foolish thoughts of backward people. He's playing in the landscape of Shakespeare and Homer and Coppola and Herzog, andhe's not daunted or lost, he's simply living up to his heritage.
