I’d already read the book so understood that the plot is rather drawn out, but the casting, acting and cinematography made up for that. And for once, a movie that’s exactly like the book with no annoying changes. What I found quite incredible was how the scenery was exactly how I’d imagined it from the author’s descriptions ie. The dining hall, the dormitory, the gardens etc.
