This book does something extremely important - it specifically describes how racism underpins our ideas about ourselves and other races. And it brings you along through historical research, anecdotes, and logic. Systemic racism is a hard idea for a lot of people to understand and believe, but once you get it, you can use this knowledge to question the policies and behaviors of yourself and those around you. If you have one takeaway, that is it. Use your knowledge to enact change and be anti-racist. I saw one review that said “I don’t know what to do now” and the truth is, it starts with the reader - see the world with new eyes. Then, make decisions that are anti-racist. Brilliant book.
