Short answer - if you already here and wondering if it is worth watching - go and watch. I was wondering, thinking if animated version would fit right, gave it a try, took a family with me and we all like it. Is it another masterpiece to rival LOTR trilogy - No, but it never meant to be. It is a piece to tell us yet untold story in Rohan kingdom. So, it is unfair to compare the plot of 2 hr film with 10hr densely packed trilogy. I did notice a bit of choppiness in horse riding in the very beginning but I forgot about it and it didn't bother later. I cannot say that everything was predictable there either. Good plot, good movie. I would give it 4.8, good but not great, could be done a bit better, but certainly worth watching. Don't set your expectations too high and you will not be disappointed. I would certainly go watch another if they do it to cover other part of Middle Earth history
