Randeep Hooda outdoes himself in the portrayal of Swatantryaveer Savarkar and as the director of the film. I have no words to express my thanks to him for portraying Swatantryaveer Savarkar on the big screen and on the international stage. There was not one moment during the film that I thought I was watching Randeep Hooda! He has personified the struggle and tortures endured by Veer Savarkar throughout his life and has actually lived them! The other members of the cast are a perfect fit and hats off to the casting directors!! There are multiple hard hitting scenes in the movie when the audience is left teary eyed.
I request Randeepji to release the BGM of the movie as it is mindblowing!
Sure, it does falter a little bit on the editing front. However, Veer Savarkar is a larger than life personality. His thoughts and their validity is timeless and often realized by us mere mortals decades if not centuries later. To expect anyone to be able to fully comprehend Veer Savarkar and fit his lifetime into a 3 hour time slot is not possible. I still feel the film should have been a trilogy or a web series showing various periods of his life and along with that his changing thoughts but then there are commercial constraints within which a director and actor must function.
There is a scene in the movie when the Warden of Cellular Jail, Mr. Barry calls Veer Savarkar and tells him that he is retiring on the next day and its his last day as warden today. Savarkar smiles and says. " So finally, I have outlived you Barry!" Barry dies on his way back home to England and never reaches his Motherland. People who try to taunt Veer Savarkar will eventually meet the fate of Barry but Veer Savarkar and his thoughts will outlive us all.
The film is a must watch along with your family and especially children! I hope schools organize shows for their students.
