Beautifully shot film , early Brad Pitt with Anthony Hopkins, which sadly plods a bit and the end leaves a lot un-answered
A media mogul and devoted father of two very different daughters, realises on the eve of his 65th birthday that his time is up, when Death makes him an unexpected offer, more time in exchange for being Death's guide.
What follows is at times awkward, with Bill (Hopkins) explaining his new "shadow" to his family and business life, accompanied by a stilted love story. Pitt, alas due to his portrayal of Death as inexperienced in life is for the most wooden, but Hopkins is on top form .
Alas, marked down by beautiful moments being drowned by the emotional background music which has tendancy to be too damn loud so you strain to hear the dialogue. And the end . . Why doesn't the loving daughter ask where her father went ?
