I vaguely remember this movie as a child because I remember having nightmares about seeing Satan coming out of the forest in the beginning over and over! Our mother was a strict Christian and once she saw Satan it was an immediate to-bed-sentence for us kids but that never stopped my nightmares of seeing Satan. The story delves into the Occult, and England at the time was knee-deep in witchcraft and this movie was the dawning of the 1960s and 1970s spawn of Cult Classics to come. There is always that haunting stigma of right versus wrong in life, and the evil side of wrong seems to awaken the senses to levels of petrification. Death never bodes well for anyone, especially if you're headed in the wrong kingdom. There's always a special place in my soul for noir-horror, and black and white films. They just don’t utilize their actors and actresses like this anymore, it’s always glamour and sexual innuendo that they sell out nowadays. Yet, I'm glad that Svengoolie still reunites us with this gilded collection. Great movie, and I'm a terrible movie critic.

This series is a dramatic tragedy, and highly worth viewing, and it's quite brilliant if not extraordinary. The acting is phenomenal if not outstanding, every bit, sequence, and chapter is filled with melancholy and superb grief, the acting or actors deserve accolades and awards; every actress and actor wore the death mask of life the way this life is lived and portrayed, they feted every challenge as accomplished thespians in a play, the eloquent dialogue, the morbidity of the dying, and the supreme masterminding of each plot is simply nonpareil. One of the greatest series I've ever watched and I've seen them all. - John Hardesty Addendum: The soundtrack’s awesome too.
