The Greendot card (the original one) is a scam. They charge $1.50 every transaction! Even if you charge 10 cents, you get charged an extra $1.50. These fees add up. Greendot also charges a monthly fee if you don't deposit a minimum of $500.00 on top of the 1.50 per transaction. If you use uber, Lyft or any company that accepts tips forget it. You get charged for the ride, plus 1.50, then they charge another 1.50 when uber orocesses the tip. It's the worst reloadable card you can get. They have Greendot GO2 bank, it claims no fees but there's a 5-8$ fee every month. Also, I never got my permanent card from them. The greendot GO2 does NOT charge 1.50 per transaction but good luck getting a permanent card that youbcan reload. If you absolutely need one of these cards, only use it temporarily and DO NOT use the Greendot Original Card. Visa Vanilla Gift cards (credit only, no atm access) are accepted most places you would need to use a CC. It's activated right away and no fees.
