I give one stars for filming locally in LA. other wise this is totally UNWATCHABLE, which is too bad cause I love Kristin Bell. I've lived in Echo Park/SIlverlake area since the 80's. There are no hipster Rabbi's hanging out with their lesbian neighbors, trying to hook up with snarky, non-jewish women. The deeply offesnsive stereotypes from the shallow, new age, spiritualist mother, and priveledged white dad exploring his sexuality, to the pushy marriage obsessed jewish girlfriend are CRINGE. But are all the tropes on purpose? An angle on how judaism can save these morally corrupt Gentiles? A show promoting anykind of religious "conversion" to any kind of patriarchial religion is really gross at this moment in time. I am shocked this got made. BUT then again NETFLIX sucks, and hasn't had a hit show since the regime change. Then theres the timing of this series, which absolutely feels like a whole lot of AIPAC propaganda trying to make a hipster rabbi, conversion therapy, or judaism in general cool? Don't get me started on the mysognistic bits lurking in the shadows of the script. Desparate attractive woman, converts to outdated religion to appease boyfriend and boyfreinds family who apprently hates all non-jewish women. Again, I can't beleive this got made.....

How bad were the other films at Cannes if this was the winner? It’s not horrible….. but it’s not that great. Certainly not best picture worthy.
