Decent entertainment value, but obviously not meant to be factual, lol. These episodes can be easily torn apart, and-hey- that’s some of the fun so I keep watching. The “science” is either facts merged clearly with opinion or the experts’ commentary overly edited and misrepresented. At one point, footage of legit birds is woven up into cryptozoological fantasy, lol. With your naked eye, you can see it’s a bird… they focus on size alone with no evidence to suggest a true size, as the trees amongst which the birds fly are deceptively differently sized themselves in following with the nature of— well— trees and perspective, lmao. That’s just one example, so if it’s fun for you to laugh at this stuff, I do recommend… two stars lost are for the computer animation, lol. (I am neither religious nor atheist, I’m holding off otherworldly conclusions until science proves something, a hypothesis becomes a theory, and respected professionals agree.)

(There is a comment regarding the author's mention of Robert E Lee. I too found it brought up outside emotions, but I can recognize that the author was referring to tactical points--if aligning some admiration to the tactical abilities of the general. The author is also a non-white second generation immigrant, so the relationship the other commenter made toward his "white supremacist" perspective is a huge reach. I think it's unfortunate that the other commentator could not read past that name; despite the general's position and the terrible inherent purpose of his mission, I believe that's not what the author was referring to. It's a grain against the positive meaning in the book, which was required reading for my Death and Dying course and a profound examination of aging.) Atul Gawande very gracefully describes his own experiences with humility in this text. He examines the history and contemporary direction of the care of elderly and dying patients. The insights and perspective given in this book reflect a person and a professional (a surgeon) grappling with monumental concepts that impact all people. He discusses meaningful life in connection to death, delivers humble personal perspectives and the story of his own family, and he does so with clear patience for himself and others. He makes cultural comparisons from a perspective he well knows and utilizes this comparison to examine the way we handle death in the United States.
