*SPOILER ALERT* Step brothers is a funny, whimsical and hilarious movie... At first. After watching it over 100 times, I have come to the conclusion that in reality it is a psychological thriller. Let me explain: - Dale and Brennan are both adults, living with their parents. When their parents move in together, they start acting up and fighting with eachother since they both feel that their position as the leach living off of their respective parent is threatened by the other. When Derek enters the picture and starts to talk about helping Mr. Doback sell the house, the two step brothers realize they have a common threat towards their way of life. - This means they will go to extreme lengths to stop Derek from selling the house and to get their parents to not sail around the world. Dressing up as KKK members, dressing up as a dead corpse to show at an open house, and dressing up as a Nazi. All this in an effort to stop their parents from selling the house. - Their evil twisted and sick minds move on to their master plan called Prestige Worldwide. They produce a music video on Dobacks sail yacht, which they knew he wanted to take out and sail around the world with his wife Nancy. During Derek's birthday party while they disguise the music video as an investment opportunity for Derek, his friends and Doback, they really just want to stick it to Doback by showing the video of them wrecking his boat. "Pay close attention, Dad. It's gonna look familiar." Dale said, with a grin on his face, knowing that they had included a clip of them crashing his dad's boat. Dale clearly wanted Robert to see the wreck. He wanted to see the hope in his dad's eyes slowly fade away as he realizes he will never sail around the world and that he will live with his son forever. - A small hickup in their plans comes along however: their parents divorce but they will not take the Dale and Brennan with them to their new apartments. This means they will have to live on their own for a while. They hatch a plan to show their parents that they are becoming adults and acquire jobs and places of their own. Until they arrange the Catalina wine mixer. This is a ploy by Brennan and Dale to get their parents back together so they could live off them again. A perfect mind manipulating trick by the two non-related psychopaths. Brennan knew from the start that by hiring a 80's billy joel band, that someone in the crowd would request Billy Joel songs from other times. He also knew the singer had a short fuse for a temper adn would get kicked off the stage. Then the only way to save the Catalina wine mixer is for Nancy and Robert to accept prestige worldwide and their sons as they are. This brings them back together while giving the green light to their son's to continue acting the way they have been. They have successfully manipulated Nancy and Robert into accepting them as a part of their lives forever. - They move back into the house and find the wrecked boat turned treehouse in their backyard with all the immature items they used to have. Plan succesful, now they can leach off Robert and Nancy forever. The entire movie was planned by Dale and Brennan so that they could continue living with their parents. That is why I rate this the best movie ever. Each time you watch it, you understand a little bit more of the psychology behind the step brothers. You notice small details supporting this interpretation. In short: GREATEST MOVIE EVER
