It does not depict the original media like at all. As someone who has read the novel multiple times and has read the manwha as well this isn’t worth it. I’d recommend to read the novel if you’re interested in the actual storyline and characters because this isn’t it. To be honest this adaptation is complete garbage. For the next part of my review I will explain some of the major things that they got wrong. First of all they made the main character, Kim Dokja hate the novel that he was reading for over a decade, which was also his sole reason for staying alive, mind you. Secondly they changed his favourite character from the protagonist, Yoo Joonghyuk to a small side character, Jung Heewon which just makes no sense because she barley even appeared in the novel and Kim Dokja found great comfort in telling himself that he was Yoo Joonghyuk whenever something in life was hard for him, that was how he kept on going therefore that part also makes no sense. Thirdly they made a strong female character, Yoo Sangah who in the original novel (again I recommend to read it) spends her whole life fighting against misogyny a healer when her whole character is about the opposite of just that, in the original novel her choosing to pick up a weapon is very important to her character so again i’m deeply disappointed. The issue already starts in the title “The Prophet”, Dokja isn’t a prophet, he’s never been a prophet and will never be a prophet. I can’t be bothered to count up just how many other things are wrong with this movie so I’ll just finish this review off by once again telling you not to waste your time by watching this waste of budget.
