You will not get this time back…I thought the movie may be watchable during the first 10 minutes… but it quickly fell apart. It’s my fault for continuing to watch it.
1. How are you going to have a Spanish speaking undocumented immigrant as the main character WHO HAS A MIDWESTERN ACCENT?!?! Yah… like every now and then she has a bit of a Spanish accent, but half the time she sounds like she’s from Ohio.
2. Things fall apart and the magic is lost when this dude named “Becker” takes the plot over…. It’s like all of a sudden, halfway in to the film… he just shows up and takes over.
3. Some of the supernatural themes are interesting, but it’s all surface level. We don’t get a captivating perspective on why certain characters are acting like heinous monsters besides the understanding that “Becker is sick.” Yes, drawn in to madness by a mysterious box that was passed down through generations.
4. I didn’t feel connected to any character in this film… they had like 2 hours to built some intrigue and they failed.
5. The most fun I had during this movie was when I was yelling at the screen “BECKERRRRR! Nooooo!”
