Was it Joaquin or Napoleon that had no personality. This film doesn’t offer any likable aspects to the man. Nor does it even invite you to admire his prowess at battle tactics. The portrayal is dry and without any warmth. There is considerable gratuitous detail in the violence. Subjecting us to disturbing violence to horses as well as dismembered bodies. When Napoleon returns from exile, troops holding him at bay with rifles suddenly change sides and follow him with great passion without any indication why they are filled with exuberant loyalty. The sex is mildly violent without passion or romance and rather disturbing to watch. This can only work as a depiction of history. Cut the sex scenes and it might work in high school history class . But even then the explanation of how he won so many battles is not there. 2 raspberries!

Amazing, so thoughtful and engaging and powerful. I watch enough british TV to know that Harry is vilified in the UK, it is a shame. He appears genuine and authentic, and I wonder if they just want him to play the part and be the fantasy they have created in that country. So many brave people telling their stories.
