Edgy for the sake of being edgy. Shocking for the sake of being shocking. However it’s self aware to know this and that’s what makes it funny. If you’re just dipping your toe into horror it might be upsetting or too visceral for you - but if you were a little emo middle schooler toting Palahniuk or reading American psycho to seem cool - then you won’t be shocked by this book, and it seems to be parodying them.
