I hated protagonist, Ethan Burke. He has no likeable qualities. He's racist, sexist, entitled, stupid, and boring. I started rooting for the villains.
Otherwise, the writing quality is very poor and the pacing is glacial. The first 60 pages is essentially him running/walking around town and complaining.
Then there's the needless torture stuff and moronic "science". All in all a really unpleasant experience.
Oh, and comparing this to Twin Peaks is an insult to the memory of David Lynch.

Kimberly is not a good protagonist. That's the main problem with this novella. I really like the Peter Grant novels but the side novellas leave a lot to be desired.

Definitely the weakest entry in the franchise. I enjoyed the first three films, but this was sub par. The plot lacks cohesion and the action becomes repetitive. At one point I felt like I was watching a video game.
