The movie was very heartfelt, not too dark and edgy. The casting was perfect, especially Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The acceptance of his human side as his motivation was a wonderful character arc. My only complaint was that in order to complete that arc they had to throw Jor-El and Lara under the bus. All in all a great start to the DCU.
