Yo mama

I'm a high school student, and this is one of the greatest books that I have ever read. I'm in the Reading Bowl at my school, and I so wish that this book were one of the options we could choose from in recent years. (Scroll to end for rest of review) Start of Rant: Every selection this year in Reading Bowl is some form of coming of age story that revolves around some theme of inclusivity, queerness, feminism, neurodivergence, or something like that. That's all cool and great and all, but they're all garbage. They're all just diversity for diversity's sake. Typical low-rate teen stories, but just add stuff that proves your specific point without actually making an interesting and original story that addresses hard to talk about topics in a new and interesting way that many people can empathize with. Cause yeah, rich, spoiled kid is a horrible person and the villain, but he's also very openly sexist and racist and probably homophobic too because he's so rich and spoiled or for whatever reasons, and no one around him ever addresses his behavior because they're all robots with no minds or personalities and the authors can't write a story any better than chatgpt can. Then there's the quirky, possibly queer, possibly poc, female lead, who of course kicks butt because female power. The characters are so fvcking one dimensional, with zero character development, and god forbid there be a single word above a seventh-grade reading level. End of Rant... Anyway, amazing story, I wish there were more stories like this, not exactly like this, but more that are able to capture my heart and my mind as much as you have. This will be a book that I will not forget so easily. I may not remember the plot, but I will remember the feelings and thoughts it left me with, and I thank you.

I read this book when I was in the Reading Bowl in the 2nd grade. I'm about to graduate high school, and I still remember it. I think I'll reread it soon. I wish they still gave kids books like this to read. It's unfortunate.
