I'm a huge fan of Terry Pratchett's work but gave up on this book part way through the first time. I'm making better progress with the audiobook but it is a slightly sad experience as the evidence of his declining cognitive function is here. The humour is less sharp, the characters developed with less sparkle, and the story lines lack tension. There is some astute observation of society and economics, and Terry's typical kindness and patience with what it is to be a flawed human (or other species), but the candle is guttering. I miss him and this book brings that loss to the fore.
