Well, am 2/3 through it. And while I totally get how painful life is for people like ‘Harper,’ I feel he/she is wrong in stating or believing, even, they have “transitioned.” He is a he no matter what, particularly as long as he has his male genitalia. To my mind, in this movie he is trying out presenting himself as a woman. It is like dressing up for Halloween. Even if he gets “bottom surgery,” he will be a transitioned woman, not a woman, because his hormones remain male. Unless or until he receives hormone therapy - and I’m not even sure it would makes a significant difference at his age - he is still a man. Only his brain is female, as it has always been. Everyone has to decide how they choose to handle this difference. It will never be what they long to be, though, which is fully female.
