Pay attention...nine people die. One does not select God as that would be selecting an idol; God selects you. And so does the Devil in this story. The dialogue is believable and the events. Clearly, Johnny Depp's best performance as a weak male and a strong business man. He is smart enough to con you and weak enough to need an angelic (evil one) body guard. You learn a lot about book collecting in this film, but that only helps the viewer in the believability of the story itself. Sound track is perfect; Satan would be proud. Gothic, eerie, and it warns you of illustrations in old books with fine bindings. What might you have on your book shelves that are dangerous?
