A painful attempt to be like the original. The lack of chemistry between the cast is painful to watch. They tried to mix characteristics of the old cast into the new characters and it fails miserably. The throwbacks to humor and specific scenes from HIMYM are almost all miss. The incessant need to remind us that a character is gay and a rich British guy struggling to be normal takes away from the overall humor and flow of the show. Despite what others say, the show doesn't build on all the characters. HIMYM actually developed everyone's stories, despite Ted being the main focus. While the show does improve through season 1, there are maybe a handful of moments that remotely strike the same emotional cords of HIMYM. The original was truly iconic. The characters are the actors. HIMYF completely misses the mark. The best parts of the show are the cameos of the original cast and the apartment. The only way this show could even be remotely enjoyable is if you never saw HIMYM
