This book has a biblical resonance for me, though I’m no scholar of the Bible. But the story had me in its grip from the beginning. The violence is, at times, stomach churning, but it undergirds the driving nature of the tale. So many questions arrive throughout, and are satisfyingly answered in due time. The ultimate moment hit me like a slap to the forehead, allowing the reader to turn on the lights in the many moments of doubt which come before. I would be curious to learn if there is a story in the Bible that may have contributed to the origins of the story. Also, it leaves me wanting to know more about the future of the living family members.
