I absolutely love this series; it's exceeded even my highest hopes for what the show would be! I'm a long-time Tolkien fan; I was first introduced to the books when I was a senior in college, back in 1975. I've read Lord of the Rings several times and the Silmarillion twice. I was a great fan of the Peter Jackson movies, and before that greatly enjoyed Ralph Bakshi's animated version (which I used to introduce my son to Tolkien's world) On my Facebook Tolkien group, I have encountered some people bitterly criticizing the The Rings of Power because some aspects of the series does not strictly conform to the way Tolkien wrote the books. I think they are being rigid and are depriving themselves of an enjoyable and meaningful experience in watching this show. As I see it, the books and the television series are each to be taken on their own merits. Both can be enjoyed!
