Can not save during a level. Levels can take ages to complete. As in hours if you explore and destroy everything. Very hard mode of course.
Game play and style is nice, but the long drawn out levels and inability to save during to come back to later leaves a sour taste in onea mouth.
EG. The first level can take anywhere from 30 mins to an hour to complete if you don't blitz it.
And as you increase the difficulty, the drops decrease.
Also, being able to use only 5 amibos sùcks.
Overall, while what game play there is is fun and engaging, it is a far cry from BOTW, which is probably one of the all time best games, console or otherwise. At this point I am sincerely hoping BOTW 2 is NOT in the style of Age of Calimity as it is very little like BOTW.
One MASSIVE change from BOTW that should be in BOTW2, and an update to BOTW, is weapons do NOT degrade. No More changing weapon after every serious boss ( Thinking you gold Lynels ). If BOTW had this feature of weapons not degrading, it would be perfect.
Overall, 2 stars. Game play is nice, combos look great, however, commands ( allies when there are 2 or more on the field ) sùck epicly. EG. You command Link to 1 spot ( when using another character ) and then switch to him later to battle and command the other character to a location, using link and moving around battling, when you switch back to the other character, link ( or any character for that matter ) will run back to where the last command was, even if you switched to them after. Once you command them, they are tunnel focused on that command.
Not sure it was worth the hype. I can see people loosing hours when playing it, but the inability to save, the commands, and the levels reduce the rating. Considering BOTW is the sequel, this prequel leaves much to be desired. It feels rushed and very glitchy/ buggy ( constant lag and freezing )
Once upon a time paid reviewers gave honest opinions. Sadly, these days they all seem to be paid to sell the product rather than give honest reviews.
Game is okay. Not even close to BOTW, not even same style. So if you thought AoC would be in the same style of BOTW, maybe best to give this a hard pass. But if you like games with more involved levels and love hack and slash style, then you will probably enjoy this.
