Anita Fraser – Google

I couldn’t bring myself to finish the first episode. Casting Ambika Mod in this was a huge mistake. At least change the character’s name to be in line with a south asian woman. Her onscreen presence is unlikeable and the chemistry between the two appears forced. I’d rather pull out an eyelash one by one and continue watching her on screen. She is just awkward as hell, given a huge component of the plot is a love story, having to watch her act out love scenes is cringe. I understand that Emma was meant to be someone Dex would never have normally gravitated towards, but this interpretation is just bizarre.

I liked the book, though didn’t finished it feeling as amazed or shocked as others seem to have. This is the first book I’ve read by the author. The first few chapters seemed a bit boring, I guess once you get used to the style of the chapters and the POV things slowly come together. There’s a lot that happened towards the end and just felt like the pace of the entire book was not consistent. Otherwise it was nice enough to read and kept me engaged

Jumped onto this bandwagon because the movie was announced and I was kinda getting fomo. I enjoyed the book, though for some reason found myself a little uninterested in the journal entries to Ellen! I get the author was trying to tie the characters to something we could relate to, something modern but I guess I just didn’t end up getting the nostalgia that was intended. Keen to begin it starts with us at some point too.
