I wanted to like this. The modern premise and reimagining of the characters appealed to me and had potential, but I struggled to make it through the first two episodes. Everything was just painfully unfunny and obnoxious. The dialogue was so contrived and nonsensical that it felt like it was written by a bot. I know it’s their IP but I’m genuinely baffled that WBD/HBO Max decided to move forward with this project and pour so much promo into it while they purged their animation department and scrapped much better series.
