Meh. They could have done so much more for loyal fans of The Clone Wars, Rebels, Mandalorian, et al... They could have made it feel like the characters and events in all of that had some significance and impact on the grand cosmic outcome. The jedi voices Rey hears are as good as we got, but again that notion could have been expanded - even just a few lines of dialogue or cameo shots referencing events and individuals past would have gone a long way. Instead they focused on setting the stage for uninitiated Gen Z-ers to consume more Rey downstream and hodge-podged everything together. Amazing effects, overwhelming sound design, Daisy Ridely and Adam Driver performance phenomenal... But everything else felt pretty hollow. It doesn't seem like JJ Abrams really respects or appreciates the material. Let Jon Favreau, Taika Waititi, Dave Filoni, and the Mando team write and helm any future films please please please.
