This weekend I attended the Mahler Festival at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, where I had the pleasure of experiencing both the First and Second Symphonies. The atmosphere was electric, based on the repeated curtain calls. The First Symphony was a standout, particularly in the middle movements. The strings in the second movement was captivating, demonstrated by the orchestra's ability to blend power with delicate beauty. Conductor Fischer truly excelled in the Second Symphony, demonstrating remarkable control over the orchestra, chorus, and soloists. His direction brought a depth and richness to the performance that resonated throughout the symphony and the hall. Overall, the weekend festival was a remarkable celebration of Mahler’s work,
