Like listening to the flip side of a hit 45 single—same artist, same sound, same style, same rhythm, but a different musical emphasis. We are all familiar with the Hollywood casting couch, however, this “flip side” of that nefarious Hollywood practice emphasizes the not so familiar impact on the non-white and non-hetero denizens of the notorious “casting pool,” where aspiring young artist are thrown into and left to their own devises to avoid drowning in the murky polluted waters of the illicit Hollywood scene. “Hollywood” depicts in a flamboyant manner the sink or swim narcissistic culture of the darker and lesser known flip side of the iconic American movie industry. Danger: just like the characters in the story, enter at own risk.
