The film is good. I did not see the stunning visuals that others mention nor the emotionally charged storyline, but movies speak differently to all people. Overall, I liked it. It has obvious shades of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and clearly, it takes from Signs,as other reviews have stated. What I also saw was a big influence of the X-Files, specifically in the Samantha mytharc and the stardust explanation. Dark Encounter delivers a good 90 minutes of sci-fi with a light dose of horror that should be entertaining for those of us that love anything alien 👽

The movie uses suspense to keep us watching and before you know it, you are already 1 hour into the movie and you have to finish it. The ending is terrible as it leaves so many plot holes and it just keeps you trying to figure out just what the hell is happening. The multiple personality disorder twist is such a dumb resource and it has been used so many times in other movies. The girl from Sex in the City acting is the worst and as for the nanny girl, it's even more terrible. It is not the worst movie as many people here are calling it, but it is very bad! I would not recommend this to anyone.
