The stuff that great movies are made of. โค๏ธThere's a submerged feeling you get while watching the movie. You get so deeply entwined into the psyche of the protagonists that you start peeling off the layers of their personality and the more you do the more involved you get with it. It does not really glorify nazism (as many would think) but explores the perspectives of circumstances.. and how they differ among people at a particular instance. The conflict in the boy's mind all the while knowing and understanding her perspective is what brings nuance into their characters. It's beautifully done. Kate Winslet's acting is phenomenal.. her face tells so much more than her lines in every shot. You feel the sweet vulnerability of the protagonists thrown off the screen...and you sit in it. A line from the movie (might be paraphrasing) :- "And you leave life, more beautiful than you entered. That the heaven looks back at you and says, the only thing that makes a soul complete, is love."
