I enjoyed this film as far the performances by Law and Vikander go, terrific, I thought. Plus the customes and the suitably heavy, dark atmosphere of interiors and the dynamics of the Tudor royal household. But baulked at the mangling of history through inclusion of so many 'lies' (fiction) and I am not normally a 'purist'. I can see the appeal of the idea that Parr could have killed the king, but this and so many other bits of fiction (raping, pregnancy and miscarriage, the jewels, the accusation and imprisonment) really tests the patience of any Tudor history aficionado. Can't understand why the need to produce such a film. It is not good even as historical fiction. Guess it won't be long before we have a film where Anne Boleyn escapes death, survives Henry, becomes Elizabeth's regent and kills Mary to prevent the return of Catholicism to the realm. But I surely won't be watching it!
