Fantastic emotional roller coaster! The absence of the title star is felt but the void is replaced, while still having the film serve as a very appropriate commemoration for him. However, his successor is subjected to numerous hardships and thus is able to grow as a person while still maintaining their own values. This is what'll win you over, and have you excited for the future of the franchise (watch out for the mid-credits scene)!
The antagonist is given a gripping, well-developed origin story and background that allows you to understand their intentions, and leaves you conflicted, similar to the way Thanos stole the show in the infinity saga. Speaking of prior movies, there are countless subtle details that pay homage to the roots of the MCU without it feeling like they are repeating itself and still introducing something new. The way Latin American/Indigenous culture is represented and beautified is so nice to see, and is nostalgic of the way African culture was illuminated in the first movie. Finally, the conclusion of the movie was brilliant in my opinion, and though some may find it anticlimactic, I thought it was nice to see a more unpredictable kind of ending, and one that was sensible given the prior intensity and consequences of the climax.
I could go on about the fantastic set design, how the fight choreography was a breath of fresh air, the vibrant CGI-assisted settings that leave you awestruck, the powerful soundtrack with unusually harmonic remixes, as well as a delightful surprise guest appearance.
Important thing is, this movie was great and definitely worth seeing. For a film without its title character, Black Panther has been able to stay true to its franchise values without adding excessive complexity and Disney-influenced goofiness that has tarnished post-Endgame MCU movies. Marvel still have managed to hold onto a franchise that is key to critical acclaim.
