[SPOILERS].
Personally, me and the rest of the FNAF community have been waiting for this movie for 8 years in total now. We all had high expectations from Scott Cawthon and fellow Producer, Jason Blum.
There was selected moments in the film where it couldโve been improved, for example the lack of jumpscares and theme of horror throughout the film. Another example of improvement couldโve been during their little montage of the Freddy Fazbear Crew building a fort. However, I understand what they were aiming for in that little montage, to highlight that the animatronics were still little children and to highlight the manipulation towards Abby. I just believe they couldโve rewrote that a little bit stronger so it fit in with the film genre.
Iโm going to be honest as well, William Afton (Matthew Lillard) deserved more screen time and definitely was portrayed as the menacing character the franchise made him out to be. His character brought shock to those who havenโt played the Five Nights At Freddys Games and know about the lore behind the games. I heard many gasps in the theatre when he revealed himself, from his amazingly constructed Spring Bonnie animatronic suit. The springlocks scene was a magnificent moment in the movie as it symbolised the true evil that laid within William when he states that he โalways comes back.โ
Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson) was the centre of attention for the entire community, every single person alongside me agree that Josh Hutcherson was perfectly chosen to play Mike.
To say that the animatronics did actually work, with an endoskeleton; it demonstrates the thought that Scott Cawthon and Jim Hensons Creature Shop had very clearly thought of what they wanted for the film, enough to amaze the audience.
The introduction to the film; the amazing animation and backing track to it brought a menacing and evil feeling to the beginning of the film, emphasising the story that is yet to come.
The credit scene!!!! My mouth dropped when The Living Tombstones most popular song from the FNAF Franchise started playing, it really lot my heart up to show that Scott wanted to include so many important people to the franchise in the film.
Overall, I was not disappointed by the film; sure there was times where it couldโve been improved, but Iโm glad that this tremendous franchise finally deserved the recognition of being on the Big Screen. The thought behind everything was carefully crafted and the storyline was just mind blowing, full of twists and turns. I would definitely go back to the cinema to watch this again and again.
I hope that the possible โ3-movie contractโ that Matthew had signed is true, and we receive more of these films in the near future!!
PS. Balloon boy scared me to death and Matpatsโ appearance made my jaw drop.
PPS. The quality of the production was fantastic overall, the camera quality was just outstanding.
