I really enjoyed the film, it definitely felt like a classic Scorsese piece. However, De Niro’s piercing-blue contact lenses were a distraction for me. Also, having to suspend disbelief while De Niro portrayed a much younger man was fine, until the scene he stomps a guy out that messed with his daughter. Scorsese’s choice of a wide-angle shot there put De Niro’s lack of mobility on full display.
Notwithstanding those two minor but recurring issues, the movie is excellent on all the metrics: cinematography, writing, acting, etc, etc.
