At first, it seemed over the top. The music was a bit too much, like a movie out of the 40s. But then I realized the first episode was simply setting the stage, dimming the lights, and raising the curtain on what would be a true masterpiece of an adaptation of a brilliant poem by possibly the most brilliant poet ever to put pen to paper. So many subtle, and at times, not so subtle references to Poe's other brilliant works, and to the many evils that plague our world today, from the Sacklers, to Monsanto, to Trump. I binged the entire series, unable to turn it off. The final episode held no surprises for me, I had put the puzzle together long before that, but neither was it a let down, it captivated me till the very end and left me raising my glass in a toast to the writers
