Absolutely flattened by the adoption of vulgarity in one of the best shows we've seen in a long time!
My sadness at the cancellation was only outdone by my excitement when OWN picked up the new season. Today, the "F" bombs made me sick to my stomach, and have me questioning whether or not I'll continue watching and promoting the show.
Contrary to popular opinion, not everyone enjoys conversations laced with vulgarity - real or imagined thru television. It speaks to the loss of morality and values Americans have adopted as "normal," despite the daily disrespect and ugliness it continually engenders. Its gotten to the point where people think you're abnormal if you're insulted by "F" bombs and cuss words.
Call me abnormal. Call me prudish. Call me anything but accepting of trash and vulgarity as entertainment. I don't know if I'm more disappointed in Oprah or Simone Missick; I thought much more highly of them that this.
I'll give it one more episode before I throw it on the trash heap with so many others.
I don't cuss, I don't entertain people who cuss - I don't care HOW much money you have nor who you are; if you can reign in your filthy tongue in front of people you highly regard, you can treat your viewing audience with the same respect.
But carry on. As much as I champion successful Black women and the projects they bring to the world stage, I refuse to become comfortable with vulgarity as a form of communication. It is not welcome in my home nor the communications I conduct on a daily basis.
