This was gut-wrenching to watch, but essential viewing nonetheless. The total hypocrisy of the religious orders that ran these schools, and condoned the abuse, all in the name of an all-knowing, all-loving (but never seen) omnipotent being is extremely hard to reconcile with. All I can possibly say, is that a newcomer to Canada, and as someone of British heritage, I am most profoundly sorry that this ever happened. How can anyone, even way back when, have ever thought that forcibly removing children from their parents and putting them into communal schools to drill an entirely new culture and belief system into them was a good thing? Because it wasn't.
