I know this movie bombed at the box office and I didn't see in theaters, but I streamed this and actually liked it. I play in the background sometimes and it gets my mind off stresses in life. It does remind me of the 90's movies especially with the instrumental soundtrack and being of a certain age it's comforting and evokes nostalgia for me maybe to mirror what William feels for his father as he reminisces and longs for him. I definitely feel the enormous loss of his father and the elusiveness as he chases his father's legacy and spirit of character even going so far as to throw himself into dangerous situations. Well acted by Daniel Diemer who's character, William, looks like he would be on the football team with an active social life, but is deeply impacted by his dad's death he is consistantly internal and says very little. His silence is palpable. William's love interest, Harper, breaks this spell - like a reverse Snow White- and awakens William to the present with her kiss, William drops his father's journal and the storms and the chasing stop.
I like the subtle nod to the late Bill Paxton.
Rest in peace Anne Heche.
I'm good with the acting, the storyline which is kept tight and consistent, the direction, and cinematography - there are some beautifully photographic moments that are not storm related and translate a feeling of time. I'm surprised I really like this movie! 😊
