It was absolutely horrible. If anyone who actually read the book wants to watch this, don't. the plot and characters are completely different. If you read the book and wanted to watch this then you must have loved the book a lot. But this movie has completely disregarded everything amazing about the book. The characters, their developements, the entire plot itself. The book had amazing technology and games but in the movie they just made it all fantasy. This ruined the purpose of the library itself. The characters been reduced to cheesy nothings. Hailey never got her amazing character developement. Charles was portrayed as a typical fat and obnoxious school bully. While he was obnoxious, he was completely different in the book. In the book, because of the pressure his father put on him, Charles put on a front as a perfect smart goody two shoes, while bullying and belittling kids secretly. Unlike in the movie, he did not brazenly bully others, especially in front of grown ups. In the book he was a sly, manipulative person. But in the movie he was reduced to a typical wannabe bully. Then there was the scene where it is shown that a girl and boy run away saying they having soccer practice. here is was shown as if they were both scared and losers. But in the book the girl respectfully tells Mr lemoncello that she has important soccer practice, and in return Mr. lemoncello respects her priorities and lets her leave with a gift too! this showed the maturity of the children in the book, but in the movie those characters were made look silly and childish. I just want to say, I think its best if you go read the book or heaf the audio book rather than watching the movie.
