Once upon a time, before the widespread use of CGI, Fox television decided to make a generic X-Men knockoff TV show. And, for its time, it was decent.
I loved this show when it first aired. My how it has aged in 20 years.
Overall, the writing could have been better, the acting is cheesy at times , and the fight scenes are super choreographed and fake, but it is what it is. It's a trip down Nostalgia Blvd for this aging geek.

The first two episodes were worth the wait and the hype. I can't wait to see what direction they take with the rest of the season.
