I watched this because it was recommended. I really couldn't understand what was so good about it. The writing is slow and the plot obvious, season 2 is almost a carbon copy of the first. If it weren't for my OCD around finishing shows I start, I would have given up.
I will say there were some pretty good acting performances, particularly Murray Bartlett and Haley Lu as standouts, and the rest of the cast did well with what they had to work with. In the end though the stories weren't clever, I worked out the ending in both seasons 2 episodes from the end (I'm not bragging- they were just obvious) and could have interwoven even the slightest bit to create a modicum of intrigue.
I suspect this rates so well because the story revolves around wealthy people in beautiful locations. I won't lie I googled holiday resorts in Sicily to pass the time during the show.
