Again, I wonder why the critics score is so bad and the audience rating is quite good. I myself watched this 3 times and the last was just a few minutes ago.
When normal people watch movies they don’t go comparing with other movies like say John Wick. John Wick for me is great as well but I don’t compare it to Polar.
I have never read the novel but read some of the critics saying it was straight up adaptation and it wasn’t good etc.
A good director and writer directs / writes and it doesn’t mean you need to completely change it from a novel or books for a movie to be good. I think if they manage to capture the essence of the novel into the movie then they did a great job.
Actually am curious if the critics who gives reviews are fans of the genre or not. Would a romcom critic watch an action movie and vice versa? If it is then the mystery is solved.
I liked the show because the lead actor played a solid role, the little girl plot actually for me was great but the only thing didn’t get me going was the villain. But again if it was in the novel, no complains there.
I would give it a 4/5 but decided to give it 5/5 instead because I think being bias works both ways
